DSHS Building K
Project Description
Building K work was completed first as it had no working conditioning. The repair funds were diverted to the project for replacement in lieu of patching old parts. The original 1950’s auditorium had been modified in the 1980’s hanging a new suspended grid under the original curved plaster ceiling. The original stage was removed and the wood backdrop covered. As part of the project CDA was able to remove the suspended ceiling restoring the original curved plaster ceiling coordinating with new lights, mechanical and A/V systems. The original wood stage wall was revealed and provides a beautiful backdrop for the presenter. Original windows were revealed and thermal upgrades installed. Seating was cleaned and repaired, walls painted, and flooring replaced. All new work complies with current accessibility, energy and life safety codes.
