Project Description

SHC, a TX State Libraries & Archives Center facility owns the historic Cleveland Partlow house in Liberty Texas.  CARTER•DESIGN ASSOCIATES was responsible provided documents, attained Texas Historic Commission (THC) approval and a State Archeological Permit for digging.

Cleveland Partlow House:  Restoration work for Cleveland Partlow house had previously begun under different ownership without appropriate THC review.  The building shifted causing cracking in the unfinished new work.  C•DA identified the underlying cause as poor water drainage creating erosion under the house in the crawl space leading to uneven shifting and sinking of foundation piers.  Documents were prepared to divert the water around the building, repair the foundations, level the house, repair wood damage from water and repaint the house.
