Texas & Pacific Waiting Room

Project Description

CARTER•DESIGN ASSOCIATES was responsible for providing historic preservation services for the rehabilitation of an historic train terminal and office building for use by the Fort Worth Transit Authority; an intermodal Transit Center.

Our work included an existing condition survey, outlining the historic elements in the building.  Research was also conducted to determine if historic elements were missing or damaged.  Priority was given to restoring these irems, including molded plaster with various paint and metallic coatings, marble, decorative metal grills, art glass and decorative metals in light fixtures, molded aluminum window frames, and stenciling, on sugar cane acoustic tiles. C•DA worked with local artisans and tradesmen to restore the damage and recreate the missing elements.

The Texas and Pacific Building is the centerpiece of a more integrated downtown design. The Main Waiting Room and the Ladies Waiting Room were fully restored in 2000 and provide a beautiful historic setting for anyevent.
